Youth Writing Contest By the NEA and Hartford Public Library

The NEA and the Hartford Public Library are putting on a writing contest! The information below is from their flyer:

"Have you ever felt disrespected and want a safe place to express how that made you feel?"


Award-winning, best-selling author on the topic of racism, Claudia Rankine, will be in Hartford on Thursday, April 26!


To compete:

- You must be 13-19 years old

- You must live or attend school in Hartford.

- You must be prepared to perform your piece in front of a live audience, including the author.

- $300 in cash prizes will be awarded.


Submit your poems, song lyrics or bars:

In-person at the event


or


Online at the Instagram account.


Writing workshops are also available.
